The Nassau County Office of Emergency Management is hosting the next Community Emergency Response Team basic training in Freeport starting next month.

The program educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response and recovery skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and medical operations.

The free training will be held at 7 p.m. on consecutive Thursdays, from Jan. 26 through March 1. The training will be at Freeport Firehouse, 15 Broadway. For information, contact the Office of Emergency Management at 516-573-9696 or email oemcert@nassaucountyny.gov.
