EMT in FDNY ambulance hurt in Bronx crash
An FDNY ambulance was rear-ended as it slowed near another accident in the Bronx Thursday morning, injuring an emergency medical technician, a spokesman for the FDNY said.
The ambulance, which was transporting a woman in labor to Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, was driving on the Major Deegan Expressway near Lincoln Avenue around 10 a.m. when it neared an accident on the roadway, an FDNY spokesman said. As traffic slowed near the accident, the ambulance was rear-ended by another vehicle, the spokesman said.
An emergency medical technician in the ambulance suffered a back injury and was taken to the hospital, along with the patient in labor, who was not injured in the crash. Both were in stable condition.
The spokesman said no one was seriously hurt.
