Sooners hold on

In yet another escape, DeMarco Murray gained a total of 148 yards and scored three touchdowns to help No. 7 Oklahoma hold off a late charge by Air Force, 27-24, in Norman.

Murray ran for a 5-yard touchdown and scored on a 17-yard screen pass in the third quarter as the Sooners (3-0) reeled off 17 straight points to pull away after Air Force (2-1) tied it early in the second half.

Jared Tew and Kyle Halderman had rushing TDs in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to three, but Oklahoma was able to pick up two first downs and run out the final 3:39.

Pouncey bouncy

The yips might be back for Florida center Mike Pouncey, who had several bad snaps in Florida's 31-17 victory at Tennessee. It was reminiscent of his struggles in a Week 1 victory over Miami (Ohio). Pouncey, replacing his twin brother, Maurkice, at center this season after he went to the NFL, bounced back in Week 2 and was named SEC offensive lineman of the week.

FSU rebounds

Chris Thompson scored on an 83-yard touchdown on his first carry of the game and Ty Jones scored twice as host Florida State (2-1) beat BYU, 34-10.- AP
