ENVIRONMENT: Bethpage conference set on green economy
Wanna go for the green?
You'll have a chance June 4, when Sustainable Long Island, a nonprofit that seeks to promote environmental and economic development, holds its fourth annual Sustainability Conference at a place where there is plenty of green: Bethpage State Park.
The conference, "Preparing All Long Islanders for the Green Economy," at the state park's Carlyle on the Green catering facility, will feature speakers, panels and a bus tour of Wyandanch. The conference aims to take a look at the community's downtown revitalization program. Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) will be the keynote speaker. The conference is from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Sustainable Long Island's executive director, Sarah Lansdale, said green technology holds "a tremendous opportunity" for Long Island. "We see this fitting in with community revitalization efforts."
The cost is $150 to attend the conference, $100 if you just want to stop in for lunch and the keynote address.
