EPA honors North Hempstead program
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is awarding the Town of North Hempstead the 2011 Environmental Quality Award.
The honor recognizes a drop-off program the town initiated for the disposal of expired or unwanted prescription drugs.
The EPA award is given to citizens, groups, government agencies, businesses and others who contributed to improving the environment during the previous year.
The award ceremony will be held April 29 in Manhattan.
