Melky Cabrera homered from both sides of the plate and drove in five runs, and R.A. Dickey (9-10) gave up a run in seven innings with 10 strikeouts as the Blue Jays beat the Red Sox yesterday, 14-1, in Boston.

The Blue Jays won for the sixth time in seven games while the Red Sox lost one day after stopping a five-game slide.

Everyone in the Blue Jays' lineup except Jose Reyes scored in Toronto's nine-run sixth inning. Ryan Goins added four hits and four RBIs for the Blue Jays.

"Through the first six innings it was an ugly night from the mound," Boston manager John Farrell said. "You give up nine runs in one inning, I think that's far too many runs to come back from for any lineup. I thought Dickey had one of the better knuckleballs we've seen from him, but still, when you get down that much that early, that's a tough night."

Astros 7, A's 3: Chris Carter, Jason Castro, Marc Krauss and Matt Dominguez each hit a home run as host Houston snapped a five-game skid.

Rays 2, Brewers 1: Jake Odorizzi won his third consecutive start and James Loney had two RBIs for host Tampa Bay.

Marlins 7, Nationals 6: Jeff Baker hit a two-out RBI single to cap a four-run rally in the ninth inning as host Miami extended its winning streak to five. Washington's Rafael Soriano (2-1), who earned his 200th career save Sunday, blew a 6-3 lead.

Braves 2, Padres 0: Ervin Santana (10-6) threw eight scoreless innings with a career-high 11 strikeouts and Evan Gattis homered for the first time in a month for host Atlanta.

Diamondbacks 2, Reds 1: Nick Ahmed's RBI single with two outs in the 15th inning lifted visiting Arizona. The Diamondbacks are 13-0 all time in games of at least 15 innings. Cincinnati's Aroldis Chapman fanned the side in the ninth, extending his major-league record for a reliever to 44 consecutive games with at least one strikeout.

Pirates 5, Giants 0: Vance Worley (4-1) tossed a four-hitter for his first career shutout and Josh Harrison homered for the visiting Pirates.

Cubs 4, Rockies 1: Tsuyoshi Wada gave up one run in seven innings to earn his first big-league win and Anthony Rizzo drove in two runs for host Chicago.-- AP
