If you're a young Long Islander just starting out in business and can't find an affordable place to live, you might want to check out a free event Saturday at Farmingdale State College.

Action Long Island, a business group, is sponsoring a daylong "Need a Place to Live?" event aimed at helping young people find affordable housing on the Island.

"Through our housing and development task force, we have found that there is an inventory of places on Long Island," Action Long Island's chairman Sheldon Sackstein said. "It's just that [some people] don't know how to find it."

Real estate agents, landlords, builders, lenders, lawyers, brokers, and public and private housing officials will be on hand to speak with those seeking apartments, Sackstein said.

Additionally, there will be workshops on grants and financing, the rental market, the legal nuts and bolts of buying a home, and housing for those with disabilities.

The event will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Roosevelt Hall and is open to the public.
