At a Sagaponack Village Board meeting Monday, Mayor Donald Louchheim told the board that Southampton police will dedicate one sector car to the village during summer months.

Police Chief William Wilson Jr. has agreed to place a sector car in the village for extra patrols and to respond to emergencies from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday as soon as staffing permits, Louchheim said, and has already designated one for Friday to Sunday afternoons.

In other action, the board voted for an outdoor assembly permit application for St. Ann’s House and Garden Tour on Aug. 4 on Hedges Lane. It denied another request for outdoor assembly Saturday for the Acker Merral Hamptons Wine Auction on Wilkes Lane, saying the permit application was late and the activity appeared to be a commercial venture at a residential home.

The board also approved parking waivers along the south side of Bridge Road during the summer weeks during certain times of the day as well as moving surplus revenue from the fiscal year into the highway improvement fund.
