Orange on rise

Ryan Nassib threw a pair of touchdown passes, and Syracuse extended its best start in nine years Saturday with a 31-7 victory over host Cincinnati. The Orange (6-2, 3-1 Big East) last week knocked off then-No. 20 West Virginia in Morgantown.

"It's not shocking to us," senior safety Max Suter said. "We've bonded so close in the last year and a half. I can't even explain it."

UNC escapes W&M

Johnny White's 67-yard touchdown run with 5:27 to play capped host North Carolina's rally from 10 points down in the fourth quarter for a 21-17 victory over William & Mary (6-2), which is ranked No. 4 in the FCS coaches poll. White ran for a career-high 164 yards for UNC (5-3).

Arizona in Pac-10 mix

Backup Matt Scott passed for a career-high 319 yards, and No. 15 Arizona held off host UCLA, 29-21. Keola Antolin rushed for 111 yards on 23 carries for the Wildcats (7-1, 4-1 Pac-10), off to their best start since winning seven of their first eight en route to a 12-1 finish in 1998.- AP
