The family of a woman whose body was found near Oak Beach has filed a wrongful death suit.
Shannan Gilbert's mother, Mari, has filed a civil lawsuit against Charles Hackett, an Oak Beach doctor.
It alleges that Hackett is linked to the young woman's disappearance and death. Mari Gilbert says a man claiming to be Hackett called her on May 1, 2010, saying he was taking care of Shannan and running a halfway house for girls.
Shannan's body was found near the doctor's Oak Beach home in December 2011.
Police say she drowned, but her family doesn't buy it. Hackett has denied any involvement in Gilbert's death, and police have said he isn't a suspect in the case.
