An open-air farmers market has opened Sundays in the Long Island Rail Road parking lot.

Village trustees have approved G&G Long Island Farmers Market, which runs Amityville’s summer market and several indoor markets on Long Island during winter, to operate it through mid-November.

Organizer Lona Graepel said about 15 vendors have signed up to sell bread, wine, honey and micro-brewed beer. Four Long Island farms will supply the produce.

Vegetables in season now include zucchini, corn, string beans, arugula and “every kind of lettuce imaginable,” she said.

The market is on North Carll Avenue, just north of the railroad tracks, and will be open Sundays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
