A predawn tour of Farmingdale showed progress in clearing away the effects of this week’s epic snowfall.

Fulton Street, state Route 109, was plowed to the pavement between Hempstead Turnpike and Republic Airport, just east of Route 110, under clear skies and reporting 27 degrees and winds of 10 mph, gusting to 18. Traffic was light but moving at speed.

Route 109 is lined with mounds of plowed snow commonly seen in upstate Buffalo or Utica at this time of year.

A few gas stations were open along the thoroughfare, as was the Dunkin’ between Doud and Weiden streets.

The side streets off Route 109 that connect to Main Street in the village were clear but had  many icy spots. They were navigable at a moderate speed. Residents had dug out their cars and driveways.
