Farmingdale comes back to take first
Farmingdale completed a comeback victory against Massapequa to take sole possession of first place in Conference AA-I. The Chiefs (10-2, 5-2) had a nine-point lead in the opening minute of the fourth quarter but Farmingdale (11-1, 6-1) chipped away and eventually took over the lead with 2:29 to go on a pair of Kelly McPartland free throws. Nadine Hadnagy's three-point play with 1:12 left gave the Dalers the lead for good.
McPartland and Hadnagy each scored nine points in the fourth quarter as the Dalers outscored the Chiefs 29-14 to make a 17-point turnaround in less than eight minutes. McPartland had a game-high 20 points, Hadnagy had a season high 14 for Farmingdale.
The game was a free-throw shooting contest in the fourth quarter with 21 of the teams' 43 combined points coming from the foul line in the final frame.
