It was billed as the "meet of the decade," a winner takes the title battle in Nassau Conference I between Farmingdale, Massapequa and East Meadow. All three teams were undefeated.
Farmingdale took it all in dominant fashion Tuesday, topping Massapequa 82.5-49. East Meadow finished in third with 47.5.
"In my 28 years, this was unheard of. Never have three teams been undefeated going into the final meet," Farmingdale coach Walt Henning. "The kids were very motivated."
It was Farmingdale's second consecutive Conference I championship and sixth in the last seven years. The Dalers finished the season 13-0 and have won 38 consecutive league meets, Henning said. Among the Dalers' winners:
Nico Fratto won the discus, throwing 167 feet. He also finished second in the shot put, tossing 48 feet, 4 inches and second in the 200 meters in 22.3 seconds.
Michael Tristano won the 100 meters in 10.8 seconds and the 200 in 22.1 seconds. Tristano was the leadoff leg for the 4 x 100 relay team that won in 45.2 seconds. Brandon Hornedo, Anthoney Bryan and Robert Jones rounded out the rest of the 4 x 100 squad. George Papoulis won the 400 in 51.8 seconds. Micheal Outing won the 400 hurdles in 60 seconds.
