Farmingdale people: Michele Langis

I’ve lived here for eight years, but my husband Robert has lived here all his life. I’m a pharmacist and my husband works for Verizon.

My sons William and Ryan. William is 5, and Ryan is just over 11 months old.

Well, my husband has always lived here. I’m from Queens. This is much different than Queens. It’s less busy and there’s more open space. After we got married we started looking for a neighborhood to live in and we moved to a nice neighborhood right near the village.

At least on my block, everyone keeps an eye on everyone. They look out for my kids.

It’s a big town, but it still has a small-town feel. When we first moved here there were more businesses. Hopefully, it’ll pick up and more will move in. Another draw to the area is that we can walk everywhere. Today, we walked to the bank and then back around to wait for the train. My son loves trains, so this is a ritual almost every day. We wait for the train to go by. Someday, he’ll memorize the train schedule, I’m sure.

Well, me and my husband can’t enjoy too much of the nightlife, but I always see a lot of people at Croxley [Ales]. There’s also a few parks you can go to. We take the kids to Allen [Ellsworth Park].

It’s a really nice place to live. The original plan was to live two minutes away from my husband’s childhood home in East Farmingdale, and it worked out that way.
