It's been a wacky winter -- little snow, mostly balmy days -- but that's not stopping HarborFrost festivities in Sag Harbor next weekend.

The event celebrates winter with ice sculpting demonstrations by the chain saw-wielding carvers of Fear No Ice! at 3 p.m. That's followed by a Polar Bear Plunge into the chilly waters off the Long Wharf ($25 registration benefits the Sag Harbor Ambulance Corp.).

Local musicians will perform all afternoon at restaurants and retail stores, which also have their own promotions. Stick around for a fireworks spectacular at dusk.

2. Long Island Boat Show

It may be cold outside, but you can still get ready for the boating season at an indoor boat show featuring the latest in fine watercrafts -- from 16-foot power boats to 36-foot cruisers. You'll also find information on marine electronics, accessories, fishing gear, Jet Skis and safe boating.

3. Learn to fence

Maybe you've always been curious -- now's the chance to find out what the Olympic sport of foil fencing is all about. Newbies can learn the basics of moving to and from opponents, parrying and disengaging, all in a controlled atmosphere with members of the Merrick Fencing Club, a not-for-profit group that runs weekly two-hour classes -- intermediate fencers are welcome, too. Reservations required.

4. Super Bowl -- for chili lovers

It's a different sort of Super Bowl pregame party. The Nutty Irishman in Bay Shore has organized a chili cook-off that will have amateur cooks doling out tastes of their best recipes when they're ready at 4 p.m. Before then, there will be giveaways and free line dancing lessons (3 p.m.) as My Country WJVC/96.1 FM radio broadcasts live.

5. Winterfest Jazz on the Vine

It's back: A six-week toast to the East End's wineries featuring live jazz bands. Nearly two dozen venues are participating, with 60-plus musical acts lined up through March 18. Highlights for the opening weekend include a Latin jazz performance by Papo Vazquez Pirates Troubadours at Raphael Vineyard in Peconic (4:30 p.m. Saturday) and David Amram performing with his quartet at Castello di Borghese in Cutchogue (2 p.m. Feb. 12).

6. Inside a Steinway

There's a lot that goes into making a Steinway, the pianos that are used in the world's most prestigious concert halls. 7. Black History Month films

Suffolk County Community College hosts free screenings of three films that focus on appreciating and understanding African and African-American culture Monday. 8. Wedding vow renewal

It's a Valentine's Day tradition (13 years and counting) at Gurney's Inn in Montauk -- couples are invited to renew their wedding vows at a ceremony with celebrity judge Jim Ketchum presiding. After the ceremony of "I Do's," there will be a reception for the couples with cake and champagne. Reservations required.

9. Linda Eder

A 12-week stint on the televised talent show "Star Search" led to a role on Broadway as Lucy Harris in "Jekyll & Hyde," then Eder went on to launch her recording career, performing at venues such as Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center and Radio City Music Hall. She sings a program of romantic tunes at Tilles Center -- just in time for Valentine's Day.

10. 'A New American Circus'
