First one up this season, and I haven't thought of a snappy title for these yet (like "Kick-Starters" for soccer). Promise, I'll have a good one for next week's Players of the Week. But any suggestions or requests, feel free to e-mail them or tweet me @StephenHaynes4.

And here we go...

Charlotte Gelfand, Friends Academy: She made 17 saves in a 3-2 win over East Meadow on Monday. She also made 18 saves in a 3-2 overtime victory against Oyster Bay. (That game was a rematch of last year's Class C county final, which also went to overtime.)

Allie Dolder, Bay Shore: The forward scored in each of the Marauders' three games last week, including two goals in a 3-0 win over Commack, and the deciding goal in their 2-0 win over Connetquot.

Jessica Geiersbach, West Babylon: She had three goals and an assist in a win over Copiague and, last week, scored both goals in a 2-1 overtime victory against Comsewogue.

Jensen Polizzotto, Manhasset: Our favorite "Dougie" dancer made 11 saves as the Indians on to edge Massapequa, 1-0, on Alexandra Gallo's second-half goal last Monday. Manhasset had three shutouts last week.

Katelyn Zaneski, Riverhead: The sophomore had a heck of a week. Her goal gave the Blue Wave a 1-0 victory over surging Newfield, she scored two goals in a 3-0 win over Copiague, and Zaneski added a career-high three goals in Wednesday’s win over North Babylon.

Katie Trombetta, Sachem East: No surprise here for the defending Long Island Player of the Year. The senior scored six goals last week, including a hat trick against Lindenhurst, and the Flaming Arrows dominated in three more games.

Angelica Gargiulo, Clarke: The defender made several crucial stops in the second halves of the Rams’ 2-1 victories over Carle Place and New Hyde Park (on Saturday), and she assisted Caileigh Berry's goal in overtime victory over the Gladiators on Monday.

Brandi Gonzalez, Greenport/Southold: Despite two losses, the goalie was strong (and resilient) in the cage. Gonzalez made 31 saves last week with a .843 percentage as her team hung tough with potent teams in Southampton and Harborfields.

Nicole Levy, East Islip: The forward had eight points in three games last week, including having a hand in each of her team’s goals with two goals and two assists in a 4-0 win over Comsewogue. Levy also scored the scored with 5:38 left in the Redmen's huge win over Smithtown East on Friday.
