New York's Filipino community came out in huge numbers to midtown Sunday to celebrate their nation's independence day.

The parade down Madison Avenue was just one of the events in Manhattan that celebrated the Philippines' independence from Spain at the end of the 19th century.

Filipino groups hosted a street fair all day in midtown, where they sold traditional clothes and food.
