Finding a beach and a pool in April
Q My husband and I want to go someplace warm with a beach in mid-April, but our daughter wants somewhere with a pool. Bonus points if we can keep it under $2,000.
A Try Myrtle Beach, S.C. Temperatures often go into the low 70s in April, there's a beach, and many of the oceanfront hotels have indoor pools.
Q I'm traveling to Warsaw in January for work, but I'll have a few days to sightsee. What do you recommend?
A Here's what you need to see: the Old Town and its square; the Royal Castle, the Barbican and St. John's Cathedral; the Warsaw Uprising Museum; the Museum of Posters; the Chopin Museum; Holy Cross Church, where Chopin's heart is buried; Lazienki Palace; the Warsaw Ghetto monument; and the Umschlagplatz, where Jews were sent off on the transports.
Q I'm going to Paris and Barcelona next month. Any suggestions on midpriced hotels in each city?
A In Paris, the Hotel Therese is reasonably priced and is on the Right Bank near the Palais Royal and the Louvre. In Barcelona, the Hotel Villa Emilia is on a quiet street just off the Passeig de Gracia and near Sagrada Familia. Rates are less than $100 a night.
