Between all the seasonal parking passes bought by residents of Fire Island, and all the folks who just want to go and party for a night, the parking lots fill up quickly (cash only). If you're taking a ferry to Fire Island in the early evening, add extra time for parking down the street and walking. Some enterprising Long Islanders actually have vans combing other nearby parking lots and charge would-be walkers a few bucks for a ride. If you're pressed for time, it's worth it.
