The Hance Family Foundation will have its third annual Family Fun Day and 5K run/walk in conjunction with the Floral Park Youth Council and The Floral Park Conservation Society on Saturday in Floral Park.

The nonprofit foundation hosts the event every spring as a major fundraiser used to support various children's endeavors and youth organizations. The events are held in memory of Warren and Jackie Hance’s three children — Emma, 8, Alyson, 7, and Kate, 5, of Floral Park — who died in a Taconic State Parkway crash in Westchester on July 26, 2009. Close to 3,000 people attended Family Fun Day last year, and there were 1,200 runners, organizers said.

The race/walk begins at 9 a.m. with a Pee Wee Run for $10, followed at 9:15 a.m. by Emma’s One Mile Race for $20 and the 5K Run/Walk for $30 at 9:45 a.m. All races start at the Floral Park Centennial Gardens, on 251 Floral Parkway in Floral Park, rain or shine.

Interested people can register today from noon to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Floral Park Recreation Center, on 2 Pool and Garage Road. Race day registration will be from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.

The races are followed by Family Fun Day in the gardens at 1 p.m. — the rain date is May 20. There will be children’s activities, barbecue, bouncy rides and a mudslide. There will also be live bands and auction items available. For more information, call 516-359-3405 or visit hancefamilyfoundation.com.
