Long Island’s two food banks are gearing up for their annual Thanksgiving holiday drives.

On Nov. 16, the Bethpage Federal Credit Union will hold a turkey-and-trimmings drive at its Bethpage location that will benefit Mineola-based Island Harvest. The drive, which will run from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 899 S. Oyster Bay Rd., will accept frozen turkeys and nonperishable foods, as well as supermarket vouchers for turkeys and cash donations. In addition, all Bethpage credit union locations will accept donations of nonperishable food until Nov. 16.

In addition, Long Island Cares has put out a call for donations of Thanksgiving turkeys, hams, chickens, supermarket vouchers for the items, and supermarket gift cards. Donations of these items can be brought to the food bank at 10 Davids Dr. in Hauppauge.
