Say goodbye to frigid weather - at least, for a little while - forecasters said Monday.

As soon as Thursday, temperatures could climb toward the 40s during the day and the recent, deep-freeze cold snap could be a thing of the past.

Forecasters at the National Weather Service are predicting sunny skies and a high of close to 40 degrees Thursday, with lows in the upper 20s that night. A high of 43 degrees is predicted for Friday, forecasters said.

That's a far cry from temperatures in the 10s and 20s in recent weeks, a stretch that has buried the East in frigid weather from Florida to Maine.

Here's a look at the days ahead:

TODAY: Partly cloudly, high 34

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy, high 31

THURSDAY: Clear, high 38

FRIDAY: Partly cloudy, high 43

SATURDAY: Partly cloudy, high 38
