The Elmont Cultural Center and the Haitian-American Political Action Committee of New York plan to hold a forum Monday night to discuss the state of the Haitian community on Long Island.

The forum will be held at Elmont Memorial Library, 700 Hempstead Tpke. in Elmont, at 7 p.m.

Haitian organizations and business leaders will be part of the evening conversation with the Haitian community to discuss its future and issues that face the community.

“It’s really the Haitian community coming together to discuss issues that are affecting them on Long Island,” said Mimi Pierre Johnson, president of the Elmont Cultural Center and vice president of the HPAC of NY, who added that Westbury, Elmont and Uniondale have large pockets of Haitians.

Elected officials and candidates for upcoming November election have been invited to participate.

An RSVP is required to attend the free event due to limited seating. For more information, call 516-384-1032.
