Fountis wins it for Bellport lacrosse
After Chris Augustine scored with 30 seconds left in regulation to tie the score for Bellport, Nick Fountis took a pass from Hayden Nickla and scored to give Bellport a 7-6 triple overtime victory against Stamford (Conn.) in a non-league boys lacrosse game Saturday. Bellport is 4-3.
Comsewogue 10, Wantagh 6: Matt Cossidente had four goals and an assist and John Eickwort stopped 14 of 20 shots to lead Comsewogue (7-0) in non-league.
Cold Spring Harbor 6, Huntington 5: Kevin Porrzelt scored off a feed from Simonetti in the second overtime to lead CSH (5-3) in non-league. Giovanni Girardi won 12 of 16 faceoffs and junior Chris Roufanis had 13 saves for his first varsity win. Junior Jake Gennosa scored his first varsity goal.
Sachem North 17, Sachem East 9: Cody Petillo had four goals and four assists and Kyle Rhatigan had four goals for Sachem North (4-1) in Division I.
Sewanhaka 14, Elmont 4: Freshman Peter Militano scored a career-high seven goals in his second varsity season for Sewanhaka (6-2) in a non-conference game.
St. Mary's 18, St. Joseph Sea 7: Tim Ahern, Nick Hutchinson and Billy Meed each had four goals and two assists to lead St. Mary's (8-2, 7-1) in CHSAA. Mike Anzalone scored a game-high five goals.
GIRLS LACROSSE
Island Trees 18, Jericho 5: Emily Lucas and Natalie Sulmonte each scored five goals and picked up four assists to lead Island Trees (3-4) in a non-conference game.
Clarke 17, Sewanhaka 4: Senior Nicole Gibaldi had a career-high nine points on seven goals to lead Clarke (4-2) in non-conference.
SOFTBALL
Carle Place 1, Long Beach 0: Ashley Cole pitched a two-hitter, with 15 strikeouts and no walks to lead Carle Place (8-2) in non-conference. Leanne Iannucci singled home Tori Hytell with two outs in the bottom of the fourth. Kelsey Larson also pitched a complete game for Long Beach, allowing one run on four hits with 10 strikeouts.
St. John the Baptist 7, Sacred Heart 6:Katie Hoffman threw a complete game with 11 strikeouts and went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead SJB (6-2) in CHSAA.
St. Anthony's 2, Our Lady of Mercy 0:Aileen Reilly pitched a complete game one-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to lead St. Anthony's (6-2) in CHSAA. Michelle Carbone and Taylor Lester had one RBI each and Lindsey Coriss went 2-for-4.
