From now on, her teammates can call her Francesca Casalino-no.

The senior pitched a no-hitter and got her 500th strikeout to lead Half Hollow Hills West to a 1-0 softball victory over host Deer Park Monday in League III.

"I've had a one-hitter and a two-hitter, but to finally get this is amazing," Casalino said. "To do it against a good team like Deer Park made it even better."

Casalino, who is Yale-bound, struck out 10 and walked two.

"She's earned everything that she's gotten so far," coach Bill Mitaritonna said.

Alyse McAlpine's fifth-inning single drove in Renee Pino for the Colts (9-0).

Casalino has given up one earned run with 103 strikeouts in 52 innings. Said Mitaritonna, "This is an amazing accomplishment for an amazing kid."
