Frank Reich: 'We got more than 11 starters' on offense
Frank Reich has nothing but high grades for Geno Smith and the other skill players he’s now leading.
The Jets offensive coordinator said “because of how talented that room is, we don't have 11 starters on offense. We've got like 15, that's the way I look at it, or however many it is. It's not 11, I promise you.”
There’s Smith and the five offensive linemen – Armand Membou, Joe Tippmann, Josh Myers, Dylan Parham and Olu Fashanu. After that, the Jets probably consider backs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen, all four tight ends (Mason Taylor, Jeremy Ruckert, Kenyon Sadiq and Jelani Woods) and receivers Garrett Wilson, Adonai Mitchell, Isaiah Williams and Omar Cooper as starting-caliber players.
That equals 16, but you get the drift. Reich likes his players and having the ability to use them in different ways.
“As a coaching staff, we got more than 11 starters,” Reich said. “We're going to play them all and want to play them all and mix it up. That just brings good energy. Everybody's in it.
“Obviously, we got our bellcows, Breece is a bellcow, Garrett is a bellcow. We'll do what we got to do there, but we got good talent.”
