Free admission at Sagamore Hill

Sagamore Hill National Historic Site, which served as the home of President Theodore Roosevelt, will offer free admission during National Park Week, April 16 to 24.

The home of the 26th president will be closed two days that week — Monday, April 18, and Tuesday, April 19 — because the National Park Service facility will still be on winter schedule, but the grounds and trails will be open every day.

For a tour of the home on the five days it will be open, free tickets will be available at the Visitor Center. Tours are offered on the hour, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., on a first-come, first-served basis. Each tour is limited to 14 visitors.

During the week, the Theodore Roosevelt Museum at the Old Orchard mansion on the grounds will be offering special programs and exhibits. Included will be an exhibit of student work from the Rhode Island School of Design ranging from small hand-crafted books to large-scale furniture pieces made from plant materials found at Sagamore Hill and another national historic site.
