For the 10th year in a row, the Town of Huntington is hosting a free, one-day New York State boaters safety course.
The course is open to those 10 years and older and will include instruction in safe boating operation, accident and emergency response, boat operation, equipment, fueling and navigation.
The eight-hour course is on May 12 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Staff from the town’s Department of Maritime Services will be the instructors. Those who complete the course will receive their boating certificates at the end of the program.
“Recreational boating is a source of great pleasure for many but each boating season can bring needless accidents,” said town board member Mark Cuthbertson. “This is one of the best courses a boater can take in learning how to prevent accidents, injuries, drowning and property damage.”
For further information or to register, contact the harbor master’s office at 631-351-3255.
