The Valley Stream dog park will host free dog exams Saturday as part of an anniversary celebration.

The park, off Verona Place behind Valley Stream Village Hall, turns 1 year old this month.

To celebrate, Friends of Valley Stream Dogs will have veterinarians offering exams during a celebration and fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, said Mike Powers, a member of the organization.

“We will be having vets doing free exams and vendors selling their wares,” Powers said.

Friends of Valley Stream Dogs assists the village in running the dog park. The village owns the park.

The 11,500-square-foot park initially opened in May 2012, and closed for three weeks in August and September for renovations. It reopened Sept. 15. More information is available at vsdogs.org.
