The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter is offering free pet adoptions until Jan. 15 during the run of its Home for the Holidays Pet Adoption Program.

All pet adoption fees will be waived during the program to help give residents an opportunity to welcome a cat or dog into their homes. Free rabies vaccinations and microchipping, as well as free spaying and neutering services, will be offered, town officials said.

“Spread holiday cheer by giving a cuddly cat or dog the present of a lifetime . . . a loving home,” Town Supervisor Kate Murray said in a statement. “When you adopt a pet from our shelter . . . you can give the gift of love for free.”

Adopted pets will also receive giveaways by Iams, and coupons will be available for a free exam and dental kit at Manetto Hill Animal Hospital and for a free grooming session at Jo-Mar Grooming, town officials said.

Would-be adopters can take a look at the shelter’s pets by visiting toh.li and clicking on the Petfinder link on the animal shelter’s Web page.

They also can visit the shelter at 3320 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh, Monday through Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. For more information, call the shelter at 516-785-5220.
