Nassau County Legis. Carrié Solages (D-Elmont) will present three free tax assessment workshops to show residents how to file a grievance of their assessments with the county Assessment Review Commission.

The workshops will be offered from 7 to 9 p.m. on:

Tuesday and Feb. 19 at the Elmont Memorial Library, 700 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont.

Feb. 11 at the American Legion Post 854, 51 Roosevelt Ave., Valley Stream.

The commission is an independent agency, separate from the county’s assessment department.

The commission is responsible for reviewing applications for correction of assessment filed in the county, potentially reducing the assessment if the valuation is excessive.

For more information, contact Solages’s office at 516-571-6203.
