Village officials plan to install a new playground at the Freeport Recreation Center on Oct. 19.

Freeport is receiving the playground through donations from the Allstate Foundation and the Manhattan-based Injury Free Coalition for Kids, village officials said.

The playground is to be located in the recreation center’s courtyard, on the south side of the facility on Mill Road, officials said.

“Their intention is to give back to a community that suffered devastation from superstorm Sandy,” village officials said in a statement.

The installation of the new playground is to begin at 8 a.m, village officials said.

A dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for Oct. 31 at 4:30 p.m., village officials said.

More information regarding the project, including volunteerism opportunities, is available by calling 516-377-2314.
