All incoming freshmen and undergraduate transfer students at Long Island University campuses, including the C.W. Post Campus in Old Brookville, will be getting free iPads this fall.

Gale Stevens Haynes, provost of the university's Brooklyn Campus, said in a news release that the initiative is about the university’s “ongoing commitment to ensuring that our students have access to the latest tools to enable them to learn."

The iPad can connect to wireless hotspots throughout LIU’s campuses. LIU recently invested $100,000 to upgrade its wireless technology.

Students can keep the iPads after they graduate, though by that time the iPads may be outdated.
