Regarding "An LI rail project for N.J.'s rejected funds" [Editorial, Nov. 30], the citizens and businesses of Long Island are in dire need of accessible, well-thought-out public transportation that will ease traffic, help the environment and move our community solidly into the future. We cannot afford to stall the Long Island Rail Road's second rail between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma any longer.

A new LIRR station at Republic Airport will be a valuable and most useful asset to Long Island, significantly reducing traffic along the Route 110 corridor. To think about failing to fund this project is a very foolish idea that will leave us sitting in traffic for years to come.
