Oyster Bay animal welfare advocates will hold their annual fundraising run Saturday in Muttontown.

Mixed Breeds in Need, a nonprofit that rescues, socializes and finds homes for shelter cats and dogs, is hosting A Run in the Park, with a 5k race and a fun run, with registration beginning 8 a.m. at Muttontown Preserve.

The event highlights the scenic, wooded paths of the preserve, with proceeds used for socialization training for rescued animals.

Adults may register on the day of the race for $25. The registration fee for children under 10 participating in the 1/2-mile fun run is $5.

Licensed, leashed pets — with proof of rabies vaccination — are welcome to run along with their owners. The fun run kicks off at 8:30 a.m., with the 5k at 9 a.m.

Owners running with their pets will be started after the competitive runners.
