The FX television series “The Americans” filmed part of an episode in Freeport last week, village officials said.
The series, a period drama about two Soviet KGB officers posing as an American couple, is usually filmed in New York City. But on Feb. 18, the series filmed for a few hours on Atlantic Avenue in Freeport, village officials said.
Freeport’s board of trustees issued the show’s Brooklyn-based production team a retroactive filming and photography permit on Monday night. The permit allowed the team to film on Atlantic Avenue between Milburn Creek Park and South Main Street.
The shooting was at least the second time the series has filmed on Long Island — the cast and crew filmed scenes at Adventureland Amusement Park in Farmingdale in October.
The show stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys. Its second season begins Wednesday.
