The Long Island Volunteer Center and the Nassau County Firefighters Museum are hosting a blood drive Monday in honor of first responders who perished during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

The blood drive will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. at the museum, located inside the Cradle of Aviation Museum along Museum Row on Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Garden City. Each donation will help to save up to three lives, organizers said.

Those interested in participating should be between ages 17 to 75 and a minimum weight of 110 lbs. They should also have no tattoos done in the past 12 months. For questions concerning medical eligibility, call Long Island Blood Services at 800-688-0900.

Photo identification with a signature is also required. Pre-registration is strongly recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome.

To schedule an appointment and for more information, visit www.longislandvolunteercenter.org or call 516-564-5482.
