Gay hotline can help deal with bullying
Many have heard the expression, "It takes a village to raise a child." When it comes to bullying, I believe it takes a village to protect a child.
The Gay and Lesbian Switchboard of Long Island has been active for nearly two decades. With the tragic news of recent suicides among gay teens, it's important to remember that the switchboard provides peer counseling and informational resources by trained and dedicated volunteers (631-665-3700).
Whether a person is calling about bullying, depression, relationship problems, sexual identity or just needs someone to talk to, they will find a friendly, nonjudgmental voice on the other end of the phone.
