Gear: Free app helps you organize your trip
WHAT TripIt travel app
HOW MUCH Free
WHAT IT DOES Organizes flight, hotel and other reservations into a single itinerary accessible on an iPhone, BlackBerry or Android. Users build trips by forwarding reservation confirmation e-mails to TripIt. Bought concert tickets or made restaurant reservations? The app will insert these events too, complete with your confirmation number and a map.
THE TEST My pre-trip ritual is anything but seamless - I spend lots of time searching e-mail for flight and hotel reservations booked months ago. The convenience of getting all these reservations into one spot is reason enough to use this app. I flooded TripIt with e-mails for two trips and the app correctly sorted the info into two itineraries, helpfully adding weather forecasts and directions. But it's not foolproof: one tour confirmation wasn't compatible and had to be input manually.
