Geno keeping all his receivers happy
Aaron Glenn’s description of Geno Smith sounded as if he was talking about a basketball point guard who makes sure he gets everyone involved. Smith has distributed the football in practice. He completed 12 of 20 passes on Saturday, connecting with seven different players.
"Guys have confidence that when the routes are stretched down the field, that he's going to let it rip,” Glenn said. “They all feel like they have a chance of the ball coming to them because he does a good job of spreading the ball around.”
This could keep defenses from focusing all their attention on one or two players, and should make the Jets’ skill players happy, which is by design.
“We want all our guys, all the eligible receivers, to feel like they're a part of the offense,” Smith said. “We have so many talented guys. My job is to obviously make sure that I'm making the right read first of all, make an accurate throw, put the ball in their hands and let them do the rest.”
