Geno won't press charges after fight

Jets quarterback Geno Smith said yesterday that he won't press charges against former teammate Ikemefuna Enemkpali, the linebacker who famously sucker-punched Smith in a locker room altercation and broke his jaw in two places.

Smith practiced with a helmet on and participated in team drills yesterday for the first time since the fight occurred.

Enemkpali punched Smith over an unpaid $600 debt on Aug. 11. A few days later, Smith underwent surgery and had plates and screws inserted into his jaw.

Asked if he's paid Enemkpali since the incident, Smith declined to answer and simply said, "Next question." Asked why he didn't initially pay Enemkpali, Smith declined to answer.

Smith said there's a "lesson learned" in every situation.

Asked what that lesson is in this case, he said, "I'll keep that to myself."
