Giants begin to make cuts ahead of Sunday's deadline
The Giants waived eight players on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s deadline to trim rosters to 53 players.
Cornerback Ugo Amadi, running back Damon Bankston, tight end Josiah Deguara, defensive tackle Leki Fotu, wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins, offensive lineman Brenden Jaimes, linebacker Anfernee Orji and receiver Kobe Prentice were cut. Deguara and Prentice were signed just this past week.
Fotu was perhaps the biggest surprise of the group since he had played mostly second-team reps with first team reps mixed in. Hodgins was a valuable late addition to the roster last season but the Giants upgraded the receiver room and those new players produced in training camp.
The team still must cut at least 30 more players by 6 p.m. Sunday.
