Girls say man accosted them in Roosevelt, police say
Police said two young girls walking home from a delicatessen in Roosevelt were accosted Sunday afternoon by a man the girls said they feared was trying to kidnap them.
The incident took placed on Allers Boulevard at 4:20 p.m.
Nassau County police said the girls - aged eight and 10 - said they were walking home from Tony's Deli when a man in a green pick up truck with an extended cab pulled up alongside them. They said a man in his mid-30s, wearing a white T-shirt and a black baseball cap jumped out of the rear door - and lunged at them. Police said the girls told them they screamed and ran into a nearby yard, thinking they were going to be kidnapped.
The truck drove off.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the incident to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
All callers will remain anonymous, police said.
