The Glen Cove City Council on Tuesday night will consider creating a new limited membership category for nonresidents at the municipal golf course, a move intended to boost revenue during slow periods of play.

The proposal calls for establishing a seasonal membership that would allow play Tuesday through Friday after 9:30 a.m. at a cost of $150.

The city currently offers $75 full memberships for residents; one for residents of adjacent Lattingtown, for an additional $5, because part of the course is in the village, and a $875 nonresident full membership that allows play any time. There are also rates for senior citizens, young people and nonresident owners of businesses in the city. See www.glencove-li.com for more details.

Mayor Ralph Suozzi said any additional membership fees generated by the limited nonresident membership would be “all extra money. The course is underutilized during the weekdays.”
