Glen Cove welcomes back Feast of St. Rocco

After a year off, Glen Cove’s traditional Feast of St. Rocco is returning to the city for six days beginning Tuesday evening.

The popular fair, held by the Diocese of Rockville Centre’s only Italian National parish — the Church of St. Rocco — will take up several blocks around Third Street and St. Rocco Place from 6 to 11 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 3 to 10 p.m. Sunday. Shuttle buses from remote parking locations will be available on Friday and Saturday.

Last year, the church’s pastor at the time told a local newspaper that the quarter-century old feast was not held due to financial constraints and a lack of volunteers.

This year, it returns with typical abundance of Italian-American dishes cooked by the “nonas” of the parish, live music, cash raffles, children’s entertainment and a procession through the city with the St. Rocco statue.

More than 400 volunteers are expected to participate in event set-up and cleanup. For more information, contact the church office at 516-676-2482.
