While Babylon Democrats discuss who should run to succeed Suffolk County executive-elect Steve Bellone as town supervisor, Republicans float several popular officials' names as potential contenders next November, including: Lindenhurst Mayor Thomas Brennan, his deputy Kevin McCaffrey and Amityville Mayor Peter Imbert. Babylon GOP chairman Anthony Pancella acknowledged the local party would face a tough time if county Democratic chairman Richard Schaffer, former Babylon supervisor, is serious about returning himself.
