Southampton Republicans will maintain their 3-2 town board majority after Christine Scalera, above, was named second-highest vote-getter after a count of absentee ballots.

Incumbent Democrat Bridget Fleming retained her seat with 6,263 votes.

But Scalera, of Water Mill, was 85 votes ahead of Democrat Bradley Bender of North Haven, with 791 absentee ballots to count. Scalera's margin widened in the final results. She finished with 5,752 votes to Bender's 5,660. Scalera takes the seat vacated by Republican Nancy Graboski, who is retiring because of term limits.
