There is no question that the U.S. Senate must pass the Sept. 11 health bill, so that those thousands of people who worked tirelessly at Ground Zero are properly and fairly compensated ["GOP senators block 9/11 health bill," News, Dec. 9].

Most of these workers are suffering from some type of serious illness which was brought on as a result of working at Ground Zero in the days, weeks and months following the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

To those stubborn windbag Republicans who are not voting in favor of this much-needed government compensation for all of those workers: Cut the garbage.

Our government owes all of these workers this much, at the very least.
