Governor's Comedy Club in Levittown, where the late comedian Greg Giraldo had been scheduled to perform two shows Friday and Saturday, is instead hosting a memorial fundraiser this evening for his ex-wife and three young children, said John Trueson, one of the club's managers.
"We're going to have some comics performing who knew Greg," Trueson told Newsday. "I personally knew Greg since the early '90s when he started, so this is kind of brutal for all of us."
In addition to live stand-up performers, DVDs of Giraldo's performances will be shown.
The event begins at 10:30 p.m., with a suggested donation of $10 and no required beverage minimum. The comedy club is at 90 Division Ave., Levittown.
Giraldo died Wednesday in New Brunswick, N.J., four days after an overdose of prescription medication.
